It is not '˜Pride', it is shame

Events this week in Belfast under the title of '˜Pride' are in reality a reason for shame.

Pressure to normalise same-sex relationships may be unrelenting, but - in spite of wall murals, colourful parades, and visiting celebrities - homosexuality remains unnatural, immoral and the subject of God’s displeasure.

The Christian position on these matters is seen in the clear teaching of the Bible, which declares that all sex outside marriage is sinful.

Some ‘Christian’ spokesmen may give the impression that God has somehow changed His mind about human sexuality, but it is no sign of Christian love to pretend that sin has no consequences, and that people may continue in immoral behaviour, thinking that God will welcome them as His children and eventually into Heaven without true repentance. Believing such a lie does not make it true.

But thankfully the same Scriptures tell us that God loves sinners of all kinds and offers forgiveness and new life by repentance and faith in Jesus Christ.

Sadly, you will search in vain for an event in this week’s festival for former homosexuals to share their experiences, but it is a fact that an increasing number are finding freedom from the shackles of the ‘gay’ lifestyle. (2 Corinthians 5v17)
