Accordions and applause for the NHS in our normally quiet street

I was attracted by the photographs in the News Letter on Saturday (‘April 23) of bandsfolk playing instruments during the applause for the NHS the previous Thursday.

Before I even saw that article I had thought of the same idea, and on the Thursday night in my street near Ballymena I brought out my accordion at the front door. I quickly summoned help from a neighbour, a wee boy across the way, to rattle the tambourine and sleigh bells.

Normally it is a quiet area but maybe we will add the saucepans and frying pan this week!

By the way, I’m a retired school teacher, age 78.
