Confused thinking on the Irish response to Britain’s armed forces

Ben Lowry seems a bit confused in his Saturday column.

He asks: “If Northern Ireland was so thoroughly rotten and murderous, why did moderate nationalists not play their part in taking up arms against it.”

Would you expect unarmed people to take on the military might of British’s armed forces? Why should Irish people allow Britain to brand them as terrorists?

Irish people in Northern Ireland have a right to national freedom. British rule denies us our freedom. What more can they do or need to do?
