EU support for anti terror measures would allow border infrastructure to be located where it should be — on land

If the EU’s support for the new Irish Sea border stems from their fear of a return to violence, would they not be better pressing the Republic to put arrangements in place to tackle any terrorism which might, as in the past, find succour within their own territory?

Doing so would allow the UK/Ireland border infrastructure to be located where logic would dictate — on the ground, along the geographical frontier.

This would eliminate the current nonsense which is unique in the world, is a sop to those threatening violence and which burdens the economy of the innocent party, namely Northern Ireland.
