It has taken Van the Poet to alert us to the dangers of lockdown

It has always been the job of the artist and poet to alert society to danger.

Cometh the hour cometh the man, with the legendary Van Morrison stepping forward.

The powerful lyrics of Van’s ‘No More Lockdown’ don’t beat about the bush, they tell it like it is.

Anyone who still thinks lockdowns or masks are needed should visit Sweden.

They had neither a lockdown nor mandatory masks and kept schools, pubs and restaurants open, yet Swedish society is now back to normal with currently one of the lowest infection levels in Europe and a lower Covid death rate per million than The UK.

Many thousands of lives have and will be lost in the UK and Ireland collectively, due solely to the effects of lockdown, a tragedy Sweden has avoided.

If Sweden can defeat this virus without the draconian measures used here, why can’t we do the same?

We only have to look to Australia to see where this is heading, with the previously easygoing Melbourne city now a draconian police state.

Residents are under 22 hour daily house arrest and forced to wear masks anytime they leave home with huge fines for non-compliance. Businesses and schools are closed, there’s a curfew from 9pm and online videos show heavy-handed police tactics. All this even though Victoria, with a population of 6.6 million, has only 750 Covid related deaths, the vast majority being elderly people in care homes with co-morbidities.

Governments throughout the world are now introducing phone apps such as ‘Health Passport Ireland’.

This incorporates the same traffic light system used by the Chinese communist government. If you test negative for Covid you are green, but if positive, you are red and must isolate.

When the vaccine arrives, those refusing it will be given a red status. No doubt various restrictions will then be imposed upon them.

Will they be prevented from boarding planes or public transport or suffer exclusion from theatrical, sporting and musical events or even from school, church or the supermarket?

Some of the vaccines being trialled and rushed through are genetic products, using previously untried messenger RNA technology.

If this genetic concoction gets approval, even those willing to take it will have to take all subsequent boosters and anything else governments demand, or they will fall into the red.

All who have died from Covid, suffered long term effects or lost loved ones deserve utmost respect and sympathy. But Covid is now being used globally as a Trojan horse to usher in a surveillance state that will operate by social exclusion of those refusing to comply. This isn’t about controlling a virus, it’s about controlling everyone on the planet.

It’s high time we all said a firm no to this tyranny and our great poet Van Morrison has shown us the way:

No more lockdown/No more government outreach/No more fascist bullies/Disturbing our peace/No more taking of our freedom/And our God Given rights/Pretending it’s for our safety/When it’s really to enslave/
