It is hard to understand how the DUP can continue in government with Sinn Fein

Every true unionist will share the disgust expressed by Lord McCrea in his letter on Wednesday (see link below).

It is hard to understand, however, how the DUP can continue in government with Sinn Fein when a senior member of the party holds such strong views on the sad state of politics in Northern Ireland.

Either Lord McCrea is on a solo run or other party members are afraid to make their views known.

Either way, the passive unionism practised by the DUP will do little to impede the advance of militant republicanism.

It is antithetical to the very idea of democracy for Sinn Fein to be appeased day and daily to the exclusion of the majority population.

It is high time the DUP took a fresh look at the many unfulfilled promises it has made to unionist voters, not least its commitment to push for democratic, voluntary coalition.
