It is not the DUP which is a racist and sectarian party

An open letter to Joe Brolly:

Your rant on RTE last night over the DUP was but the latest of your outbursts over unionists.

It may well be that the DUP are against abortion, gay marriage and a heavily weaponised Irish Language Act. However, that does not make them racists or sectarian and does not make them ‘bad people’.

The party that you might want to consider as ‘racist and sectarian’ is the party that has traditionally had links to PIRA and is still said by terrorist reporters to be influenced by ruled by a terrorist Army Council.

That party has put unrepentant terrorists at the very heart of our government.

For all its warts, most decent people would prefer a party like to the DUP to one which uses every opportunity to glorify its ‘Soldiers of Ireland’ and its ‘Patriot Dead’.

Those it glorifies tied an innocent Catholic worker to a bomb and blew him to bits at Coshquin; burned 12 innocents to death at La Mon and slaughtered innocent Protestant workmen and Kingsmills. These were truly racist and sectarian acts and but a tip of the PIRA iceberg.

By the way your beloved GAA is not squeaky clean either. Its unwritten mission statement is ‘Brits Out’. It names some clubs, grounds and competitions after murderers and bombers and its supporters often sing ‘Rebel’ songs which glorify Killers and re-traumatise their victims.
