If I had had my loudhailer with me in recent nights during the loyalist violence:
‘Listen youse. To Westminster Northern Ireland is just a nuisance and to Brussels the Republic is just an irrelevance. So the solution is obvious. Come on Belfast and Dublin,” and, my voice rising, “Get to it and let’s have an united Independent Ireland.”
