Letter: Absence of medical workers on King's Birthday Honours list is both surprising and disappointing
A letter from Robert J Knox:

I'm taking a little time to send a letter - as always, I am an avid reader of the News Letter.
On looking through the names of the King's Birthday Honours, I'm so surprised and disappointed to note so few if any surgeons, doctors and nurses involved in the medical profession.
What a sham. A few years ago I sought to have Damien Magee, a devoted surgeon in Antrim Area Hospital, recognised in some way, but in a reply to me, because I was not a member of the medical profession, it was declined.

He saved my life during a six-hour plus operation, most of my bowel was removed. He saved many more lives just before he retired.
What a shame that men like this are just ignored and forgotten about and drift into obscurity.
We won't forget his dedication and desire to preserve life a little longer.
Many thanks for all the hard work in your number one paper.
