Letter: Anti-Israel bias in the Republic of Ireland is hardly surprising

A letter from Stevan Patterson:

Recent appalling comments clearly showing an anti-Israel streak from the president and government ministers in the Republic of Ireland after the horrendous and murderous terrorist attacks by Hamas on innocent Israeli men, women and children, are hardly surprising.

Successive Irish governments have had a pro-Palestinian, anti-Israeli bias for many years, which has been clearly shown and reaffirmed once again when you dig into the one-sided comments.

What I think they really believe is that Israel should not exist at all as part of a two-state solution in the same way, it seems, they believe their nearest neighbour – Northern Ireland – should not exist as part of a two-state solution on the island of Ireland, which is evidenced by their support for constitutional change whereby Northern Ireland would cease to exist.
