Letter: Bishop Mullally is unlikely to bring positive change of any consequence to Church of England
A letter from James Hardy:

The article 'Archbishop-elect sets out her stall' (January 3) omitted to mention massive problems associated with Bishop Sarah Mullally becoming next Archbishop of Canterbury.
The English primate is the leader of global Anglicanism – 'a first among equals' – in the pool of national primates. But Anglo-Catholics and evangelicals include those opposed to female ordination.
Furthermore, Mullally appears supportive of gay marriage, another contentious or divisive issue. She disappointingly leans towards being pro-abortion, in spite of being an ex-nurse and a mother.

Her CV is now further blighted by allegations of failure to oversee proper investigation of bullying or abuse.
Church of England national primates, for many hundreds of years, have traditionally been equipped with high class degrees from Oxford or Cambridge.
But not Mullally, whose academic pedigree looks decidedly lacklustre for such a prestigious appointment.
The Church of England is blighted by 'woke' anti-intellectualism, and by extreme liberalism, which both undermine its wider public credibility.
Bishop Mullally looks like an exceptionally unlikely figure to bring positive change of any consequence.
