Letter: If there's a border poll on the future of Northern Ireland, it would only be right for GB citizens to have a say on what happens the Union

Those that call for Irish unity or a united Ireland are in reality calling for the destruction of Northern Ireland and the abolition of the United Kingdom itself.

How can you have a United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland when Northern Ireland is ripped from the union?

If in the unlikely event a border poll was held and Northern Ireland voted to leave the UK, this will not be for unity as claimed by those advocating for the nationalist abolitionist utopia of a new Ireland but the return to an old Ireland routed in intolerance and civil unrest.

It would also be the actual political disembowelment and death of the UK.

Citizens of the Republic of Ireland will have a say to decide if what had been Northern Ireland joins their country.

Surely for such constitutional change that affects the UK it would only be right and proper for all UK citizens to be consulted in a vote to decide if they agree to the abolishment of the UK or not.
