There should be a review of the existing policy that all social and local authority housing provision must be of the latest design layout and specification.

The taxpayer should not be required to build social housing as a potential future-investment for tenants. Pre-fab post-war housing-type design would be excellent and could incorporate the latest insulation system as well as being affordable.

They could be steel framed with corrugated roofing sheets and insulated interior and exterior walls.

Tenants may then add modifications to individualise their homes if they intend to buy at the recommended valuation without a discount.

The income generated could be used to provide further affordable housing.
