Using Trump’s rationale and doctrine (the Donroe Doctrine!) for the invasion of Venezuela and planning the takeover of Greenland, then the UK should have no qualms about taking over the Republic of Ireland.

It is vital for the UK's defence, as Russia and China prowl its waters; it is a tax haven for US companies; and it’s an open gateway for drug smuggling.

In addition, it has a history of harbouring terrorists and is a strong and vocal supporter of Mid East causes who seem intent on wiping Israel off the face of the Earth.

Irish Americans, who now massively support Trump, would not be in any position to condemn the UK.
