It was most interesting yesterday, Tuesday December 29, to hear BBC Radio Ulster’s 5pm Evening Extra news programme.

The Lagan Valley MP Sir Jeffrey Donaldson was having his feet held to the fire by an able news presenter on the subject matter of the DUP (Brexit Party) voting against the government in today’s Brexit settlement bill at Westminster.

If ever there were strains of whistling in the dark they appeared in Sir Jeffrey’s replies during the interview.

Indeed the air to the tune sounded suspiciously like those as reported as played when the Titanic went down — namely, Nearer My God to Thee.
