We all know that people die of flu this time of year.

Most have underlining health conditions.

In fact, the first to die in the Republic of coronavirus was a man with an underlining health condition.

Interesting too, the instances of normal flu this time of year is relatively low. We are not hearing of high normal flu levels this time of year, compared with last year, which is surprising — just this super virus.

Much criticism has rightly been directed toward the media by the public for sensationalist headlines in creating fear and panic, fuelled by government ministers, both north and south, who are getting caught up in the hype.

People are rightly growing sceptical.

True enough, people do not wash their hands as they should at this time of year, but to imply that “biblical proportions” might die is speculation.

Northern Ireland got through the Troubles — it will take more than a flu virus to bring it down!
