Northern Ireland is the Land of Milk and Honey

Over the 70 years of my life I have lived in Scotland, Wales, England, Northern Ireland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Portugal and the Canary Islands so I feel qualified to speak about the EU and the UK.

When the Good Friday Agreement was done by Tony Blair and his cronies, a decision was made by the EU and the UK to throw money at the peace plan. This money has continued since then, although it is suggested that it cannot go on for ever.

Northern Ireland is the Land of Milk and Honey — no water rates, no poll tax, no bedroom tax, reduced rates, free prescriptions. The number of Motability cars is amazing, not to mention the people who criss-cross the border and the total benefits bill.

In Spain when you call an ambulance the first thing through the door is the credit card machine.

We have a Stormont finance minister who continually complains about the lack of resources from the Treasury, yet we find he cannot spend the money he has by the end of the financial year. Tell that to pubs, restaurants, hotels, shops, theatres and business affected by Covid.

I have a question for the finance minister — what were his qualifications before he got the appointment to run the fourth biggest budget in the UK? Perhaps Stephen Nolan can tell me as he seems to be the only person in Northern Ireland who gets political answers!

You also want the UK to pay for pensions for the Troubles injured — I wonder what the people of England, Scotland and Wales think of that?

I am neither a unionist nor a republican but I am not living my life with my head in the sand. Enough is enough, sort out your government, finances and run the country properly.
