It is with disgust that the Orangemen and women meeting in Belfast Orange Hall, Clifton Street read and hear each day of the madness that is the Northern Ireland Protocol.

None of us want nor voted for an extra layer of bureaucracy at our ports.

The only border recognised by international treaty in this country is between this part of the United Kingdom and the Republic of Ireland

What other sovereign state would tolerate a border down the middle of their country?

What other prime minister would tolerate a foreign power dictating how part of the country is run?

The Belfast Agreement or Good Friday Agreement states that no changes to the governance of Northern Ireland can take place without the consent of all parties.

No one ever asked our opinion and we as part of the Protestant/Unionist community would never agree to a border of any kind being imposed on us.

We as Orangemen and women meeting in Belfast Orange Hall, Clifton Street call upon all right thinking politicians to lobby the prime minister of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to do all in his power to have this, in our opinion, unlawful border in the Irish Sea to be scrapped and have Northern Ireland returned to being an integral part of the United Kingdom.

We are British citizens entitled to all British rights.
