Perhaps time to reflect on Nobel Peace prizewinner’s view of the IRA

Even thoroughbred unionists have respected John Hume for his genuine abhorrence of violence for political ends.

Unionists can readily identify with his assessment of Martin McGuinness’s IRA as “medieval savages” who bombed tens of thousands out of their jobs.

However, it seems rather inconsistent for the Paisley PR machine to join in tributes to Mr Hume when he was so critical of their close friend and his lynch gangs.

Perhaps the baroness and her MP son should reflect on the views of our Nobel Peace prizewinner.
