Peter Robinson’s claim that Northern Ireland supports the UK link is untested

I read with interest Peter Robinson’s piece in the News Letter on Friday (‘Dublin should take care not to overplay its hand over Northern Ireland Protocol,’ July 23).

He states that: “It is the settled view of the majority of people in Northern Ireland that they wish to remain an integral part of the United Kingdom.”

I would ask about validity of this statement as this question has never been put to the population. It has only ever been surmised as per voting patterns that this is the case,
