Sammy Wilson should not take cheap shots at medics, accusing them of playing God, but instead focus on the Irish Sea border crisis

Sammy Wilson being critical of the medical experts in their advice to politicians on the virus is a cheap shot (‘Medics playing God on schools’, February 20, see link below).

‘No Mask Sammy’, who was reported as having claimed for masks, now seems to have become a virologist.

He accuses the medical teams of playing God and they are only there to advise the politicians.

Well, Sammy, that is what they have done. As far as the medical professionals are concerned, I think they may just care about opening up too soon to undo all the good work that has reduced the virus. Sammy calls this: ‘covering their backsides.’

It is amazing how many experts we have outside the medical profession!

The thought crossed my mind that surely Sammy has enough to do, getting on with abolishing the undemocratic Irish Sea border that has been imposed on unionists.

In case he has not heard, there is one in his back yard. It seems that his advice to the British government has fallen on deaf ears. He can deflect all he wants from the Northern Ireland Protocol issue but the unionist people will not forget the rudderless leadership that the DUP has provided in the border crisis.

So, Sammy, maybe you should use your expertise and efforts against the implementation of the Irish Sea border that puts Northern Ireland under EU laws that the rest of the UK does not follow.

This is not the Brexit that you or I, along with many other people, voted for.

John Mulholland, Doagh
