Sinn Fein would not set up checking facilities at the land border

A unionist party’s overriding principle and aim is to uphold and preserve the Union by all legitimate means in its power.

The department which Edwin Poots heads as minister is engaged in facilitating the Irish Sea border.

You would expect a unionist politician or political party to find the means to use his position as leverage to apply pressure to frustrate this betrayal.

Can anyone imagine a Sinn Fein minister tamely setting up infrastructure on the border between Northern Ireland and Eire if the positions were reversed?

The DUP leader Arlene Foster has so far not disciplined him or removed him from office and so the DUP as a whole is complicit in this failure.

It is a break in faith with the unionist electorate on a fundamental principle.
