(The letter can be read here: ‘Northern Ireland is the name of the place Sinn Fein help to govern, it is not ‘this district’)

While Mr Wight castigated Sinn Féin on its consistency of not calling Northern Ireland by its proper name, while in the same letter he refers to Donegal being in the Republic.

It rather diminishes his argument when he refuses to use the proper title of the other jurisdiction that shares this island which is Ireland.

The Republic is simply a description of what Ireland is, just as the North is a description of where Northern Ireland is.

By all means call Sinn Féin on their miscalling of Northern Ireland but don’t diminish your point by doing the same, miscalling Ireland.
