The return to joint press conferences with Sinn Fein has done nothing to enforce public health messaging

Friday’s editorial was inherently contradictory.

How can you head a piece “Foster right to front up Executive’s Covid-19 strategy” and follow it with the opening line “Michelle O’Neill should have resigned as deputy First Minister in the aftermath of the Bobby Storey funeral”?

Either O’Neill is fit for office, as the heading of your editorial suggested, or she isn’t, as the opening line of your editorial suggested.

In truth, the decision of the DUP to return to joint press conferences with Sinn Fein/IRA did nothing to enforce public health messaging.

Firstly, the message delivered at the press conference was confused.

They told us that they are going to re-open wet pubs and yet put restrictions on people meeting in private homes. Is the virus a Free Presbyterian?

Secondly, even if the message was coherent and logical why would anyone take any notice of it given that the messenger has shown that she can and will disregard all the things she lectures the rest of us about if she decides to do so?
