The time is well past when the Free Presbyterians should take a stand against a Stormont that has exceeded its authority

As far as I am concerned the only option on the table for churches is to resist these draconian measures imposed by the Stormont executive and to stay open. As was the case back in March the executive have once again deemed churches and public worship to be ‘non essential’ and therefore can be closed.

At the same time off licences are deemed essential and can remain open. To close churches in compliance with these regulations is to concede the principle that Christ is the Head and King of the church and civil government has no right to interfere with the affairs of the church.

Free Presbyterians and those of us with a Scottish Presbyterian heritage are proud of our covenanting forefathers and the sacrifices they made to resist state interference in the church.

The time is well past when we should follow in their footsteps and take our stand against an executive that has exceeded its authority.
