Unionists have to acknowledge the coming reality of being a minority, and start negotiating now

Alex is quite right in saying that unionism needs a strategy.

The future is foreseeable and unionists need to start preparing now.

Population demographics that will put a republican majority in place, one that will vote for the unification of the island, are predictable and inevitable.

The steam-roller of change is coming down the road.

Do the unionists want to be behind the wheel or under the wheel?

Unionists have to acknowledge the reality of becoming a demographic minority, and start negotiating safeguards now.

Both sides in Ireland are so fixated on the past, but it is the future that deserves their priority.

Scary stuff I know, but a future minority position for which the unionists have not prepared is even more scary.
