Our amendment was honest bid to update abortion law
In response to Mark Williams' letter (February 23) '“ to allege a recent amendment brought by my colleague Trevor Lunn MLA and I in relation to terminations in cases of fatal foetal abnormality was a Trojan horse is disingenuous at best, disgraceful at worst.
There was no subterfuge involved but rather an open and honest attempt to update the current law to fulfil a promise to Sarah Ewart following an extensive consultation by the Department of Justice, so no-one else would have to experience the same heart-breaking circumstances she did.Mr Williams’ assertion that abortion is about conscience is correct.
I would ask those who similarly promised Sarah progress on this issue only to renege on their word have a look at their own consciences following their actions.
