Plea to our local politicians: stop the drilling in Woodburn Forest

An open letter to the MLAs for East Antrim MLAs and to Sammy Wilson MP:

I was shocked yesterday to hear of the current plans to drill in Woodburn Forest, close to the dam that supplies my family’s water supply.

As a concerned father of two small children, I am writing this letter to you specifically for assurances independent to those with vested interest in the (albeit limited and finite) financial gains of this environmentally hazardous enterprise.

It would seem to me and hundreds of others that money has been set over and above the safety of our water supply in this instance and I am sure you would agree that this is unacceptable.

In the interest of public health and the health of my own family, I am requesting that an independent inquiry be made into the actual safety or otherwise of this apparently reckless decision, made without proper consideration for the lives of those whose families depend on a clean water supply in this area.
