Reactions to a possible papal visit

The prospect of the Antichrist visiting Northern Ireland, as reported by the News Letter, ('˜DUP MP interested in Pope's views on moral matters,' Oct 28) is one thing.

The various reactions are more significant.

The Orange Order response was more theologically correct than that of Sir Jeffrey Donaldson, the Presbyterian Church and the Church of Ireland, put together.

Rome’s position on moral issues is appalling yet Sir Jeffrey seems unaware of it.

The Presbyterian Church spokesperson seems not to know why there was a Reformation which has continuing relevance for the present.

A course on Luther’s 95 Thesis and a rereading of the Westminster Confession of Faith is needed to ascertain the historical and biblical position.
