The UUP was part of the liberal establishment

I am currently in England where some have expressed concern that Northern Ireland did not vote for Brexit.

One must thank the Ulster Unionists for this, yet I must state that my constituency of South Antrim was one of five constituencies here that voted Leave by just 557 votes.

Looking at the overall result, it is very clear that there were 1.367 million leave voters in Scotland and Northern Ireland and that the referendum was won with a 1.269 million majority for Leave.

Despite the howls from Sinn Fein and SNP therefore it is clear that those 1.367 million showed solidarity with fellow Britons in England and Wales. This must never be forgotten and in both parts of the UK where there is nationalist agitation for separation this must be forthrightly opposed.

Vote Leave workers in Northern Ireland deserve commendation for the strong leave vote of 44% which was against the odds of the liberal establishment which included UUP, Alliance and Sinn Fein.
