There is no proof that the incidence of homosexuality is increasing

Are more gay people coming out of the closet, and living their lives openly, with decency and integrity? Yes!

Are there more straight people who can identify gay friends and family members than there were, say, 30 years ago? Of course!

Do this mean that the incidence of homosexual orientation in the human species is increasing? I rather doubt it.

As Mr Stephenson notes, “homosexuality has been around for a very long time”.

And not just among people.

Homosexual behaviour has been observed in other species as well.

It is as much a naturally-occurring variant to sexuality as being left-handed is a naturally-occurring variant of manual dexterity.

But the human species always has been and will be predominantly heterosexual, and they will continue to date, get engaged, marry, and build lives and families together as they always have.

None of that was ever going to change whether or not gay people were allowed to do the same.

And considering that the human population of this planet has risen from three billion to seven billion in my lifetime alone, I should think that procreation would be the least of anyone’s worries.
