Oscar-nominated actor Rea backs Eamonn McCann in Assembly elections
Mr McCann will contest the Assembly election in Foyle when voters cast their ballots on May 5.
Rea, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of Fergus in ‘The Crying Game’ in 1992, is a close friend of Mr McCann and in a video for People Before Profit, he explains why he thinks people in Foyle should vote for him.

“In all of the years I have known Eamonn, he hasn’t had a single drop of sectarian blood in his veins.”
Rea signs off the video by suggesting that if elected to the Assembly, Mr McCann would freshen things up.
“At least [Eamonn McCann] keeps you awake when most politicians make you wish you were dead.”
