Passing police patrol spots blaze in Londonderry

An early morning fire at the rear of a house in Londonderry is being investigated as arson.

The blaze at Liscloon Drive in the Shantallow area of the city was spotted by a passing police around 6.30am.

Detective Constable Donnell, said: “Fire service personnel attended the scene a short time later and extinguished the fire. Whilst no-one was injured as a result of this incident, it could well have quickly become a lot more serious due to the close proximity of the oil tank to the fire.”
