Pedestrian killed in freak Warrenpoint collision named

A pedestrian killed in a freak road traffic collision in Warrenpoint yesterday has been named by police as 66-year-old Keith McWilliams.

The scene of the collision on the Rostrevor Road yesterday morning was strewn with the contents of a trailer attached to a lorry, which appeared to have been carrying thick wooden logs wrapped in netting.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw a lorry towing a trailer in the area between 10.15 and 10.30am yesterday to get in touch.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police can confirm that the man who died following a road traffic collision on the Rostrevor Road, Warrenpoint on the morning of Wednesday, 3 May was 66 year old Keith McWilliams.

“Inspector O’Connor would appeal to anyone who was travelling on the Rostrevor Road, Warrenpoint yesterday morning between 10.15am and 10.30am and who may have witnessed this incident or who saw a lorry towing a trailer to contact Police at Downpatrick on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference 364 03/05/16.”
