The event, ‘Gary Moore – Ten Years Gone’, will be staged at the Limelight on Saturday, February 6, the exact anniversary of the East Belfast guitarist’s untimely death in Spain in 2011.

The show will be headlined by The Pat McManus Band, with special guests The Davy K Project.

The event is being organized by Über Röck, the Belfast-based music webzine, and local PR company Smokin’Gun.

Über Röck’s editor-in-chief Monk said: “It’s incredible to believe that it is 10 years since the ‘Belfast Boy’ was taken from us.

“When we realized this, and then discovered that the 10th anniversary would be to the very day – i.e. a Saturday – then we knew we just had to organize something to celebrate and commemorate Gary’s life and legacy.”

He added: “This is not merely a tribute concert, however, as we are delighted that Pat ‘The Professor’ McManus, widely and rightly regarded as Gary’s successor to the title of Northern Ireland’s best blues and rock guitarist, has agreed to headline proceedings, and will deliver a full two-and-a-half hour set.

“Pat and his band who will be performing their first Belfast show in almost two years, will also be joined by a few surprise guests on the evening.

Our support act is another of Northern Ireland’s most respected blues/rock guitarists, Davy Kerridge, who will be bringing his Davy K Project back to Belfast for the first time in what will be more than a year.”

Moore was originally drafted into Thin Lizzy by its late frontman Phil Lynott. He later gained acclaim for his solo work and was a former member of the Irish group Skid Row.

The Northern Ireland guitarist was only 16 when he moved from Belfast to Dublin in 1969, to join Skid Row, which featured Lynott as lead vocalist.

He was later brought into Thin Lizzy by Lynott to replace the departing Eric Bell, another guitarist from Northern Ireland.

Throughout his career, Moore was to embrace a range of genres including blues, metal and hard rock.

He performed on stage with a range of major artists and released 20 studio albums.

Moore, 58, died from a heart attack in a hotel room while on holiday in Spain.
