Coronavirus NI: One person dies | 141 new cases detected in last 24 hours | 639 cases in last 7 days | see how many CASES there are in your area

In a statement from Craigavon Area Hospital at 2pm today they said: “The Trust can confirm that a fourth patient who was treated on the Haematology Ward at Craigavon Area Hospital, and who had tested positive for Covid-19, sadly passed away this morning.

“Trust Chief Executive, Mr Shane Devlin said: “On behalf of the Trust I extend my deepest sympathy to the patient’s family and friends.”

Senior officials from the Trust have today updated the Minister, Departmental colleagues and Public Health officials on action taken by the Trust to date. The Minister will be addressing the situation later this afternoon in the Assembly.

A further detailed update on the outbreaks will be published by the Trust tomorrow.

Meanwhile the latest Department of Health dashboard (released at 2pm) has revealed that the last 24 hours has seen another massive rise in COVID-19 detection in NI.

The total number of cases in NI in the last seven days is 639.

According to the dashboard there is one person on a ventilator with Coronavirus in ICU in NI - and two others in ICU but not ventilated.

Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon: 954 cases (+80 in past 7 days)

Belfast: 1958 cases (+212 in past 7 days)

Derry City and Strabane: 298 cases (+18 in past 7 days)

Fermanagh and Omagh: 206 cases (+16 in past 7 days)

Lisburn and Castlereagh: 691 cases (+68 in past 7 days)

Mid and East Antrim: 721 cases (+65 in past 7 days)

Mid Ulster: 458 cases (+13 in past 7 days) and 30 deathsNewry, Mourne and Down: 558 cases (+44 in past 7 days)

Ards and North Down: 520 cases (+29 in past 7 days)

Not known: 396 cases (+7 in past 7 days)

This evening the Health Minister Robin Swann has informed the Assembly that a Level Three Serious Adverse Incident investigation will be undertaken on the Covid-19 outbreaks at Craigavon Area Hospital.
