Funeral arrangements released for tragic swimmer Deirdre McShane

The funeral details have been released for 58-year-old Deirdre McShane.

The midwife for the Northern Trust died yesterday whilst going for her daily sea swim in Ballycastle.

A post on Funeral Times says she died on December 9 as "the result of a tragic accident".

In the post they say 'Deirdre Marie' was "the much loved mother of Roísín and Odhrán, beloved partner of Joe and loved by his daughter Sarah".

It adds that she will be sorely missed by her siblings and wider family circle.

Her funeral will be held on Friday in St. Mary's and St. Joseph's Church, Ballintoy at noon - with burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
