Heavy rain and high wind to hit NI starting TOMORROW - Met Office issue two days of weather warnings

The Met Office says it will bring ‘persistent rain’ which is ‘heavy over hills’ and ‘may lead to flooding and travel disruption during Friday and Friday night’.

The yellow warning for rain will be in place from 6am to 9pm on Friday and effect parts of counties Fermnanagh, Tyrone and Co Londonderry.

The public are asked to expect flooding to homes and businesses, spray and flooding leading to difficult driving conditions and some road closures, delays or cancellations to train and bus services.

And on Saturday the Met Office has issued a Yellow weather warning for wind throughout Northern Ireland.

It is in place between 6am and 10pm.

The Met Office says people in NI should expect ‘strong gusty winds in association with showers’ which may bring ‘some travel disruption’.

They add that delays to road, rail, air and ferry transport are likely; some bus and train services affected, with some journeys taking longer; delays for high-sided vehicles on exposed routes and bridges likely; and some short term loss of power and other services possible.

The Met Office add: “It’s likely that some coastal routes, sea fronts and coastal communities affected by spray and/or large waves”.
