Homeless man thanks NI town’s community for ‘kindness and support’

A homeless man, who had been sleeping rough in Portadown’s People’s Park has thanked the community for their kindness and support.

Sinn Fein Cllr Paul Duffy said there had been concerns for his health and well-being.

“At first he was refusing assistance from all quarters but with some perserverance a local member of the Obins St/Park Road Community group and The Polish Community group from Lurgan, we got him to see a doctor and help with benefits plus a key worker and engaged with NIHE,” he said.

“The local people have shown a lot of support, helping him with food, washing and supplying him with clothing. He wanted to say thanks for showing him kindness and support in this difficult time.”
