Investigation launched after young woman’s body recovered from water after extensive search

A young womans body was recovered from water after an extensive search by the NIFRS and Irish Coastguard helicopter last night.

The search took place on the River Foyle where a womans body was recovered from the water near Lisahally Docks.

A PSNI spokesman said: “Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of a female, aged in her 20s, whose body was recovered from the River Foyle in Derry/Londonderry around 11pm last night, Monday 24 February.

“A post mortem examination will take place in due course to determine the cause of death.”
