But across the Irish Sea, indeed across the North Sea and across the English Channel there is persistent rain.

Almost all of England and Scotland is under a band of wet weather, some of it downpours as you can see in this satellite image.

We should not get too smug though: the forecast for much of Northern Ireland is to be cloudy by lunchtime and raining in places. Indeed in Belfast rain is forecast for much of the coming three days.
