Motorcyclist killed in serious collision near NI hospital is named locally

On social media former SDLP Councillor Pat Ramsey paid condolences to Gordan Curry.

Pat Ramsey said: “It’s very very sad indeed I knew Gordon, he was a genuine nice fella

“A highlight of you that we will all always remember & laugh about is when the guy fell asleep in the shop and you ran to the tower hotel for a defibrillator

“You were an amazing colleague and better friend. Our thoughts & prayers are with your family ❤️❤️

Another message from ‘Life After’ says: “Today we are saddened to hear of the passing of the late Gordan Curry.

“Gordan passed away after being involved in an RTC outside Altnagelvin Hospital this morning.

“Could everyone please keep the Curry family in your thoughts and prayers during this very traumatic time.

Police are now appealing for information following the collision around 5.30am yesterday in Derry/Londonderry.

In a statement the PSNI said the victim was a man in his 40s who died after his motorcycle was struck by a vehicle on the Glenshane Road.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was in the area at the time, or who may have dashcam footage or any other information to contact police on 101 quoting reference 211 of 22/02/21.
