NI motorists asked to reduce speed with ‘hazardous freezing temperatures’ - or avoid unnecessary travel

Motorists are this morning warned that driving conditions this morning are ‘hazardous on many roads due to freezing temperatures’.

A post from ‘NI Road policing and safety’ this morning says: “Driving conditions are hazardous on many routes this morning due to freezing temperatures.

“Please avoid all unnecessary travel and if you must venture out, please reduce your speed and drive to suit the conditions.”

Meanwhile a post from TrafficwatchNI reinforces the need to exercise caution.

“Temperatures through the night fell below freezing across many parts of the province,” it says.

“Salting of roads on the scheduled network considered to be at risk of ice and snow has been undertaken through the night.

“Road users are advised to exercise caution when travelling.”
