Prince of Wales’ tribute to NI nurses during royal visit

A meeting with frontline nurses is the first of a series of engagements for the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall on a visit to Northern Ireland on Wednesday.

Charles and Camilla are at the Ulster Museum in Belfast to speak with nurses and midwives who transitioned early from Queen’s University and the Open University to take on clinical roles due to the Covid emergency.

They Royal couple will also view the museum’s Florence Nightingale exhibition – marking the 200th anniversary of her birth..

The exhibition celebrates the contribution of nurses from the First World War to the present day.

A number of other engagements will be announced over the course of the afternoon, the Northern Ireland Office has said.
