Police have been carrying out patrols in areas of the North Coast in a bid to combat traffic and social issues.

In a post on Police in Causeway Coast and Glens Facebook page officers say: “As the Port numbers increase and with the bank holiday weekend upon us, Police have been conducting mobile patrols, beat patrols and cycle patrols of the Portrush and Portstewart area.

“Yesterday evening some of our Officers took a beat patrol to an area of local concern, the Amphitheatre in Portrush town centre.

“There they engaged with young persons by seizing & removing alcohol, educating them in the risks and also discussing the new school term with them.

“Positive engagement leads to positive change. With that we’d like to wish all the young people and children a safe return to schooling. Keep safe and keep smiling!
