Reaction: Woman dies after late night collision on rural NI road - PSNI appeal for witnesses - road now reopened

A woman has died after a road traffic collision last night.

This morning the PSNI confirmed that a woman in her 40s died following a two-vehicle road traffic collision on Ballynakilly Road in Coalisland, Co Tyroneyesterday evening (Tuesday 14th July).

The collision was reported shortly before 9.10pm.

Police attended the scene along with other emergency services.

The female had been the driver of a Renault Modus and she was treated at the scene - but sadly passed away.

The driver of a Volkswagen Golf was uninjured.

Inspector Lucas is appealing to anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have captured dash cam footage, to contact them on 101, quoting reference number 1981 of 14/07/20.

A PSNI spokesman this morning added that the Ballynakilly Road, Coalisland, which was closed following a road traffic collision, has now reopened.

Sinn Féin MP for the area Francie Molloy has sent his condolences following the woman’s death.

The Mid Ulster MP said: “I was saddened to hear of the death of a woman in a collision on the Ballynakilly Road in Coalisland.

“My thoughts are with the family, friends and loved ones of the woman who has lost her life in this tragic manner at this difficult time.

“I would appeal with anyone for information on what happened to bring it forward to the police”.
