Translink records workers’ experiences during crisis

The series captures the spirit of Translink staff who have adapted to a new way of working while continuing to deliver services for those who really need them.
Each short video delves into the reality for individuals working through the crisis, asking how they feel life has changed since lockdown, how it has felt being an essential worker and what their hopes and dreams are for brighter days ahead.

Hide AdThe staff videos will be shared on Translink’s social media channels from Wednesday 17th June to open a window into the world of its key workers.
Speaking about the series, Translink Deputy Group Chief Executive, Gordon Milligan, said: “At one of the most challenging periods in our lifetime, our staff have continued to drive this country forward by ensuring we have a public transport service running when essential workers need it most.
“The videos showcase some of the many staff at Translink who have worked through what will go down in history as an unprecedented crisis and we want to thank them for their heroic efforts.
“They have adapted and innovated to keep our services running, showing great resilience and dedication and we are proud to pay tribute to all our amazing colleagues across the country.”

* Translink also jumped on-board the #ChaseTheRainbow campaign to share images of hope and solidarity with people across Northern Ireland.
In April, the public transport company used its vehicles and billboards to display large rainbow images, a colourful display of positivity that also included important government messaging advising people to stay home and save lives. Aiming to keep Northern Ireland full of rainbows and raise people’s spirits, Translink will also asked local children to submit their own rainbow drawings.

Before using the bus or train, ask yourself if you could walk or cycle instead if it’s a shorter journey? If you do need to travel by bus or train, follow this safety advice:
Plan ahead by checking timetables
Travel off-peak if you can.
Wash or sanitise your hands frequently
Use contactless or prepay tickets like mLink or smartcards
Maintain social distancing
Wear a face covering
Do not travel if you feel unwell or have a high temperature
Stand back to let passengers off services
Be patient – allow extra time for journeys
