Tributes pour in for ‘an amazing young wife and mother’ who died with COVID-19

Tributes have flooded social media after the death of 41-year-old Lisa Mooney with COVID-19.

A heartbreaking post from her husband, Robert Mooney, posted on February 22 said: “It’s with the heaviest heart today that I said goodbye to my amazing wife and mother to our 4 Boys Lisa.

“Words can not describe the absolute pain we as a family are currently experiencing with her sudden passing.

“We are heartbroken to say the least and can not get our minds around this.

“She was an extraordinary lady who had time for everyone .

“She was a brilliant wife to myself and best of all a superb mother to our Children.”

Robert, a former player for Cliftonville FC and now a coach for the team, added: “The amazing and beautiful heartfelt messages that have been sent in abundance offering condolences has been quite extraordinary- on behalf of both our families we can not thank you all enough.

“We are blessed to know so many are thinking of us all during this horrific time .

“Lisa, my dear Wife, I love you , please look after us in coming days and always sweetheart x I’ll certainly keep bringing our boys up the way we wanted and do you proud .....sleep tight Darling

You are at peace now xx ”

Lisa, from New Lodge, who passed away on Monday, had an underlying condition before she contracted COVID-19 ended her life.

She had previously been diagnosed with the life-threatening condition Addison’s disease, a rare disorder of the adrenal glands which prevents the body from producing enough essential hormones.

A post from Cliftonville Football Development Centre said: “Cliftonville football club would like to send condolences to our coach Robert Mooney and his family on the sad passing of his wife Lisa.

“Thoughts and prayers are with Robert and his family at this difficult time.

“Lisa was a massive part of the Reds family and will be missed by coaches, parents and players.”

Meanwhile another post from Ligoniel Academy Football Club issued more heartfelt sympathy to the Mooney family.

“Today the club committee and everyone associated with the club would like to send our condolences to one of our club managers Sé Ó Maicín and his extended family including the Mooney Family on the passing of his Aunt Lisa.

“A beautiful lady who was taken far to soon.

“The club have decided to show our support to our first team manager and his family by now confirming the Addison’s disease logo will be confirmed on our new club kit come September.

In another post Robert revealed details about Lisa’s funeral.

“Lisa’s funeral will take place March 2nd @ 11am at Holy Family Chapel,” he wrote.

“Sadly Lisa had an underlying condition and unfortunately contracted COVID-19 which ended her young life.”
