Person dies after incident at Belfast docks

A person has died following an incident at the north Belfast docks area this morning.
A spokesperson for Belfast Harbour said: 'Belfast Harbour can confirm that there was an incident this morning (Tuesday 21st March), on Stormont Wharf and that a fatality has occurred.

Belfast Harbour has issued a statement confirming that details are still emerging following the death at Stormont Wharf.

The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) issued a statement on Tuesday morning, confirming that an incident had taken place at 8.20am.

A spokesman said: “NIFRS received a call at 8.20am this morning (March 21) to attend an incident at Stormont Wharf, McCaughey Road, Duncrue, Belfast.

“Fire appliances from Whitla and Central Fire Stations are in attendance. The Health and Safety Executive and Ambulance Service are also at the incident.

“The incident is on-going.”
