Police appeal over hate crime attack

Police are treating attacks on a house and car in Larne as a hate crime.

The incident took place in the Herbert Avenue area around 1.10am on Thursday. It is understood the car - which had several windows damaged - belonged to a Lithuanian man.

The front window of the house was also damaged and abusive graffiti was also painted on the dwelling.

Inspector Heather Scott said: “This incident is being investigated as a hate crime and I am appealing for anyone with any information to contact police in Larne on 101 quoting reference 55 04/08/16 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

DUP MLA Gordon Lyons supported the PSNI appeal and described it as “a totally unprovoked attack”.
